In a Tweet, the executive compares a Rocket Lake-S Core i9-11900K favorably against AMD’s Ryzen 9 5950X, a 16-core chip. It is worth noting this was an internal test, so we expect nothing less than Intel touting its chipset. According to the company, the comparison showed the Rocket Lake flagship is 11% faster than AMD’s flagship rival. The test and results were performed on PCMark 10’s Quick System Drive Benchmark. Some information about this benchmark suggest it may automatically help the high turbo clock speed of Intel’s new silicon: “The Quick System Drive Benchmark is a shorter test with a smaller set of less demanding real-world traces that is designed for smaller system drives that are unable to run the Full System Drive benchmark.”

Rocket Lake
Intel has last year said Rocket Lake chips will provide a notable performance boost over proceeding systems. Intel says the Cypress Cove cores in the Rocket Lake S CPUs will deliver a double-digit increase in performance over the previous generation. “The 11th Gen Intel Core S-series desktop processor will introduce a new desktop architecture, called Cypress Cove, designed to transform hardware and software efficiency and increase performance?.” Cypress Cove are built on 14nm. Intel says they are similar to the 10nm Ice Lake cores but simply built on more affordable 14nm architecture.
